Saturday, September 14th, 2019
Horizons4Girls is proud to be able to again welcome to their event spokesperson Roy Pirrung, National Marathon Runner. He will be making appearances at various schools and public events promoting this 5K.
The National Center for Education Statistics show nearly a third of students aged 12-18 reported having been bullied in school. Bullying maybe physical or emotional bullying and be perpetrated in person or in cyberspace. Different types of bullying are homophobic bullying, bullying students with disabilities, racist bullying and religious bullying. Victims display low self-esteem, difficulty trusting others, a lack of assertiveness, signs of aggression, difficulty controlling anger and isolation. Bullying has also caused many suicides for middle and high school kids.
Horizons4Girls will hold their 3rd annual Masters Gallery 5K walk/run to prevent & educate Sheboygan County in the awareness of bullying and the affects it has on pre-teens and teens. Challenging our local youth teams to help promote a NO TOLERENCE ATTITUDE, WHEN IT COMES TO BULLYING, we will promote Horizon4Girls 5K Walk Against Bullying to all area youth groups ~ schools, non-profits, and neighborhoods. Having a “Challenge Winner” ~ the highest percentage of donations to student enrollment/membership will receive a $200 grant to begin their own anti-bullying campaign. The 5K Walk/Run will kick off Come Together Diversity Festival at Fountain Park.
Our diversity may cause bullying but can also bring us together. We will begin and end the 5K Walk/Run at Fountain Park, registration is active now at horizons4girls.com and continues until the event. Participants will be encouraged to stay and enjoy the diverse food, refreshments and entertainment.
