For the past two years Horizons4Girls has been able to take Christmas Cookies to a whole new frontier!
In 2013, their first full year of operation they took Christmas cookies to the residents of Rocky Knoll Nursing Facility in Plymouth. Students took cookies room to room to residents and did that accompanied by therapy dog Gizmo and owner Jen from Harford CT.
Jen & Gizmo flew in from Hartford, accompanied the students as they stopped at Mead Library to be greeted by the Mayor and then went off to Rocky Knoll and distributed cookies. Come 2014 Christmas and they delivered 72 dozen cookies, room to room at Rocky Knoll and were accompanied by Bridget and owner and author Barb Teschel. Smiles could be found on residents, staff and students.
Well, Christmas 2015 is fast approaching! As the girls have done every year they will be taking orders for Christmas cut out cookies. Same fabulous cookies that are almost pieces of art. Orders will be taken thru December 3rd and can be ordered and paid for right on line at www.horizons4girls.com. BUT very important to the service project, cookies can be sponsored for delivery to the nursing home right on the web site also, all through a safe PayPal connection.
But you might be asking who will be with the students this year. It will be Horizons4Girls' very own certified therapy dog, Faith. Faith was donated to the program and resides with Founder Char Pachniak, better known as mom to Faith and even students. Faith has been working with the program for the last 7 months and has found her forever home with mom and extended family with the students.
